11 Kid Friendly Books About Penguins

Winter is the perfect time to learn about arctic animals. My kids really gravitated toward the penguin this year so we did an entire lesson about emperor penguins.

A few weeks ago I shared our emperor penguins lesson with you. This week I am filling you in on the kid friendly books about penguins we used for our lesson.

Let’s dive in!

Fun Penguin Stories

If you have younger kids or just want to keep the lesson fun (and cute AF), these kid friendly books about penguins are absolutely perfect. Each story has a penguin as the main character, but doesn’t go into any actual facts about penguins.

As always, I was able to find all these books at our local library. I highly suggest you do the same before buying brand new. If I had to suggest buying any of these books, it would be the stories by Tadgh Bentley. Those stories were SOOO fun and the illustrations were great.

Educational Story Books

Unlike the previous section, these kid friendly books about penguins tell a story in a “day in the life” sort of style. Each story is very educational without really feeling like reading a text book.

Both of these stories are a little lengthy, but well worth the read. I found they were the best cross over between story and education. By the time we got to our factual books, my kids were able to recall things they learned from these stories.

As I mentioned in my Emperor Penguins lesson post, I highly recommend picking up some sort of educational kid friendly books about penguins. These books will not only help your kids with the worksheets, but they will learn SO MUCH about penguins.

If you’ve read any of my other book suggestions, you know we love a good educational book. These books all have chapters so it’s really easy to divide the content up throughout a week long lesson. Also, each of these books have additional resources to help you dive deeper into the lesson.
